James P. Carino, CPP, CFE, VSM, a graduate of Colgate University, with an M.A. from the University of Hawaii, is president of Executive Security Consultants, Inc. (ESC), a company he formed in 1982. ESC specializes in conducting security surveys, training and major investigations. He also provides expert witness testimony in civil suits involving claims of security negligence. Based in Pennsylvania, some of his specific engagements have involved design of total security programs and systems for U.S. business and industrial firms, universities, hospitals, licensed nuclear facilities, and the aerospace industry, as well as development of executive security protection programs and guard force qualifications and training standards, worldwide. Mr. Carino is a retired lieutenant colonel, U.S. Air Force. He served as a special agent with the Air Force Office of Investigations for twenty years with his last position being executive director of criminal investigations. He is the founder and executive director of Intelnet, a worldwide network of investigators and security professionals, co-founder and chairman of the board of the Pennsylvania Association of Licensed Investigators, and a member of numerous other professional associations. He has served as an adjunct professor at Alvernia College and St. Joseph’s University in the undergraduate and graduate programs.
