Sal LiFrieri
Short Biography: Sal Lifrieri served as the director of security and intelligence operations for Mayor Rudolph Guilani’s Office of Emergency management from January 1996 to January 2001. In this role, he was responsible for the management of security, intelligence and counter-intelligence operations for New York City. During that time he was also appointed leader of a joint federal and state law enforcement committee on executive protection. The committee was responsible for developing protocol and standard operating procedures to protect senior government officials in the event of a chemical or biological weapons attack. Prior to that, Mr. Lifrieri was a member of New York City’s prestigious Municipal Security Section where he headed the Protective Operations Unit responsible for the personal protection of Mayor Guiliani his family, and other elected NYC officials. As a member of the NYC Police Department’s Homicide Investigations unit, Mr. Lifrieri was assigned to the Intelligence Division where he developed and led the department’s “Russian Organized Crime Project.” Now retied from NYPD, he is a lecturer for the U.S. Department of Defense’s Marshall Center for International Security Studies in Garmisch, Germany, a certified technical assistance provider for the U.S. Department of Justice, an instructor at the National Intelligence Academy, and a guest lecturer on terrorism and executive protection, and terrorism and crisis management.
