Amnon Birenzvige
Short Biography: 

Dr. Amnon Birenzvige, Ph.D. , received his B.S.C and M.S.C. from the Technion, Israel Institutes of technology in physical chemistry and his Ph.D. from the State University of New York at Albany, NY in Aerosol and Atmospheric physics and chemistry. He has over thirty-five years’ experience in studying the behavior of vapors and aerosols in the atmosphere. He conducted pioneering research on the exchange of air contaminants between the outdoor atmosphere and the indoor and on human exposure to air contaminants as they move about their daily activities. For the past twenty-five years Dr. Birenzvige had been employed by the Edgwood Chemical and Biological Center of the U.S. Army. There he conducted research on various aspects of CB defense. Some of his most notable accomplishments is to developed recommendations for protecting the civilian population for CB agent, which was adopted by the office of Homeland Security and the Israeli Defense Forces, study the problems of CB defense in cold weather, develop a field expedient test for testing face mask integrity, and conduct a study on the background biological aerosol in the background environment. During the cold war he also served as an advisor to the Berlin Brigade and assisted them in developing their tactics and strategy in the event of a chemical or biological attack on the city. He served on several FEMA workshops on "sheltering in place" in the event of an accidental or deliberate release of hazardous material and participated in writing in writing FEMA guidelines on the subject.
