John M. Vittone
Short Biography: Judge John M. Vittone was appointed chief judge of the United States Department of Labor’s Office of Adminstrative Law Judges on April 28, 1996. He joined the Department of Labor as deputy chief judge in 1987, and served as the acting chief judge before his appointment as chief judge. Before joining the Department of Labor, Judge Vittone was a judge with the Department of Transportation and Civil Aeronautics Board where he specialized in international route selection proceedings and airline mergers. As an attorney, Judge Vittone was on the staff of the Antitrust Division of the Department of Justice and the Federal Trade Commission. He served in the United States Army from 1968 to 1970 and was honorably discharged as captain.
