John Hunsucker, located in Oklahoma City, is the lead attorney with the Hunsucker DUI Defense Firm. Mr. Hunsucker’s practice is almost exclusively DUI-related defense. He handles over 175 DUI cases a year ranging from first-time offenders to DUI felony murder cases. In 2007, Mr. Hunsucker co-authored the Oklahoma DUI Survival Guide, A Citizen’s Protection Manual.
Mr. Hunsucker is certified by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in the administration of the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests (SFST) and is also certified as an Instructor in SFST. Mr. Hunsucker has taught the SFST course to attorneys from numerous states. In 2004, Mr. Hunsucker was one of the first attorneys in Oklahoma to receive formal Drug Recognition Evaluation (DRE) training (and is still only one of four attorneys in Oklahoma to have this training).
Additionally, Mr. Hunsucker teaches, participates and/or attends almost all national, regional and local DUI seminars. Mr. Hunsucker is frequently called upon to teach DUI seminars by various groups including the Oklahoma Bar Association and the Oklahoma Criminal Defense Lawyers Association. The Hunsucker DUI Defense firm owns five Intoxilyzers and several simulators. This is the largest collection of machines in western Oklahoma. Mr. Hunsucker has been formally trained in the operation of the Intoxilyzer® 5000—which is currently being used in Oklahoma—and of the brand new Intoxilyzer® 8000. The State of Oklahoma has certified Mr. Hunsucker as an Intoxilyzer® 5000 operator and maintenance specialist.
Mr. Hunsucker is a Director on the Board of the Oklahoma Criminal Defense Lawyer’s Association, and is a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and National College for DUI Defense. Additionally, in 2007, he was selected as a Fellow in the Litigation Counsel of America (LCA). The LCA is an invitation-only, honor legal society representing one half of one percent of American Lawyers. Mr. Hunsucker is the only DUI attorney in Western Oklahoma to be invited to join.
