Short Biography: A. Lawrence Kolbe, Ph.D. is a founding Principal of The Brattle Group, an economic consulting firm with offices in Cambridge (Massachusetts), San Francisco, Washington, Brussels and London. Dr. Kolbe’s work focuses on financial economics, especially as it applies to rate regulation and project or asset valuation. Clients for this work have included federal, state/provincial and local government agencies; national research institutes; industry organizations; and private firms in a variety of industries. He is the co-author of three books and has published a number of articles. Dr. Kolbe has served as an expert witness in arbitrations in The Hague, London, and Melbourne; lawsuits in U.S. courts; federal and state/provincial regulatory proceedings in the U.S. and Canada, and U.S. commercial arbitrations. Dr. Kolbe received a Ph.D. in Economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1979, and a B.S. in International Affairs (Economics) from the U.S. Air Force Academy in 1968.
