Stephen Pate
Short Biography: 

Stephen Pate, Esq. has been a partner since 1994 in the Houston office of Fulbright & Jaworski LLP. He focuses his litigation practice on construction litigation, first-party insurance litigation, commercial coverage litigation, fraud, extracontractual and insurance litigation. Before joining the firm, Mr. Pate served as law clerk to Judge Joe J. Fisher, U.S. District Court. Mr. Pate is a past chair of the Property Insurance Committee of the Tort and Insurance Practice Section of the American Bar Association. He is a member of the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel and is chair of that body’s Property Insurance Section. Pate was the Mid-Year Program Coordinator for the Tort and Insurance Section of the American Bar Association. He has served as a panelist at the Property Loss Research Bureau for the past several years. Pate has spoken on property insurance and bad faith issues at seminars presented by American Bar Association National Institutes, Loss Executives Association, the Defense Research Institute, the Federation of Insurance and Corporate Counsel, and the Mealy’s Company. Pate serves on the Editorial Board of the Bad Faith Law Reporter and The Insurance Coverage Litigation Reporter. Pate authored the Chapter on “Inland Marine Insurance” for West’s Insurance Coverage Litigation Series, and has authored the Property Insurance Survey for the Tort and Insurance Practice Journal. Mr. Pate is Co-editor of Property Insurance Annotations: Fire and Extended Coverages (Third Edition) (ABA 1998). Mr. Pate is a fellow of the Houston and the Texas Bar Foundations and has served as Director of both the Texas and Houston Young Lawyers Associations. He is listed in Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in America Law, Who’s Who in the South and Southwest, and Who’s Who in the World. While in law school, he was research editor for the Vanderbilt Journal. Mr. Pate received a B.A., magna cum laude, in 1980 and a J.D. in 1983 from Vanderbilt University.
