Stephen S. Solomon, B.S., O.D., Dr Stephen S. Solomon has been a practicing optometrist for thirty-three years and a researcher in visibility and perceptual issues for about as long. He has written numerous articles on how visibility affects perception. Among his studies are juried or referred research papers published by the National Safety Council, the American Optometric Association, and the Human Factors Engineering Society. Dr. Solomon has acted as a consultant for attorneys and industry on issues of visual perception and its relation to accidents and accident prevention. His recent presentations include one which addresses the relationship of vision and emergency vehicle accidents for the National Academy of Science’s Transportation Research Board and another for the NYS Department of Municipal Police for advanced accident reconstructionists. Dr. Solomon has been awarded New York State Optometrist of the Year in 1976 and received their Distinguished Achievement Award in 1996.
